“Un Cotxe Menys – Bicicletes” (“One Car Less – Bicycles”) is more than just a name — it’s a statement of intent. Every time someone chooses a bike instead of a car, there’s one less vehicle on the street. A small gesture, perhaps, but one that helps transform cities and the way we move through them.

We started back in 1995, at a time when Barcelona had no bike lanes and cycling was far from common. From the very beginning, we worked closely with the City Council to promote the use of bicycles as a safe, healthy, and sustainable means of urban transport. With dedication and a lot of passion, we helped build a city that’s more human, more accessible, and more alive. Today, Barcelona has over 250 km of bike lanes—and growing. But more important than the infrastructure is what’s grown within the people: a genuine cycling culture and a new way of experiencing the city.

We were the first company to offer guided bike tours in Barcelona, both for individuals and for groups. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of working with international travel agencies, DMCs, schools, universities, public institutions, hotels, private companies, families and thousands of travellers from around the world who have trusted us to show them the city in a fresh, personal and authentic way. Whether it’s a custom-designed route for a large group or a tailored experience for a couple or a school class, we always aim to create the most engaging and meaningful way to explore Barcelona. These long-standing collaborations are built on trust, professionalism, and the shared belief that discovering the city by bike is one of the most enriching ways to experience it.

Barcelon eBikes had already been growing as a parallel project for nearly a decade, offering new ways to reach further, climb higher, and open up cycling to more people. After the pandemic, when the city and the travel landscape had changed, it made perfect sense to come together. Un Cotxe Menys and Barcelona eBikes joined forces to offer a broader and more inclusive experience: a shared vision rooted in sustainability, storytelling, and a love for Barcelona. With electric bikes, we extended our reach beyond the city centre, creating new routes through Montjuïc, the Penedès wine region, the Costa Brava and other unforgettable places — all with the same spirit as always: to offer meaningful, safe and inspiring experiences led by people who truly love this place.

This evolution has been made possible thanks to the people behind the project. Ester Boada, founder and original driving force, has led the way since day one. Her deep knowledge of Barcelona, calm leadership, and attention to every detail have shaped our traditional bike tours into experiences that feel thoughtful, personal and rooted in the soul of the city.

Jairo Carrillo joined to continue developing the Barcelona eBikes project with fresh vision and energy. With a background in cultural tourism and a passion for slow travel, Jairo helped us imagine how our tours could become more dynamic, more inclusive and more connected to the landscape and its stories. His direction helped position our eBike tours among the most appreciated and well-loved in the city.

What hasn’t changed is the way we do things: small groups, professional guides, local knowledge, and a real commitment to quality over quantity.
